I specialize in offering professional legal advice and representation to assist anyone in a dispute with the Canada Revenue Agency. Whether you disagree with your amount payable or simply need help to understand and deal with correspondence, I can give you the advice and representation you need to level the field and protect your rights.
I was born and raised in the South of England and came to Canada in 2004 after completing my Law Degree at the University of Bristol. I initially moved to Ottawa to complete my additional conversion courses to become a member of the Ontario Bar and have since relocated to Toronto where I have had the privilege of working with clients, lawyers and accountants from all across Canada.
I created my own tax law practice in 2008 and in 2012, I joined forces with Peter Aprile at ATX Law. At ATX Law, we specialize solely in resolving tax disputes. As a small firm, we have a unique dynamic that avoids the bureaucracy and somewhat impersonal nature of larger practices. We focus on getting to the right result, not on billable hours. Anyone who has been involved in the tax world for an extended period of time will tell you there is an inherent imbalance of power between taxpayers and the Goliath that is the Canada Revenue Agency. Our tax system is incredibly one-sided and so complicated that it is almost impossible to navigate successfully without help. As such, there is a considerable access to justice issue in dealing with tax disputes. I am actively involved in campaigning for a fair and just tax system and in introducing new measures to enhance the accountability of the Canada Revenue Agency. It is my aim to raise awareness of the problems taxpayers face on a daily basis and to increase the use and effectiveness of taxpayers' rights to ensure our tax laws are administered fairly.
I am a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada as well as the Canadian Tax Foundation. I also work with Canadians for Tax Fairness, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, and Taxpayers Advocate Inc. to help create the changes in our tax system.
